We are going back to school! Back to Primary school!
The Municipality of Vila do Porto has kindly ceded the building of the former Malbusca primary school to ASC.
This historic building was built as part of the Plano dos Centenários, a large scale national school construction plan initiated by the government of the time, implemented between 1941 and 1969.
In 1945, the standard projects for the Azores, by architect Luís de Mello, emerged. The Estremadura standard project was adapted to the characteristics of the region. The stonework would be in basalt and the windows in glass panes. Later, anti-seismic belts were introduced and the buildings were adapted to the Azores climate where rain, wind and the consequent reduction of light are frequent. The main door was made of cryptomeria wood with basalt stonework.
ASC will leverage the old school’s proximity to the Malbusca Launch Center to implement an operational control center and office space to host our growing team and welcome our customers.
ASC will retain and maintain the external space, which includes the playground and patio, accessible to children and the general public.
